Elena Yaneva began her work and research on the topic of hemp-based biocomposites during her studies in civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. She initiated Hempstatic, a project purposed to accelerate the transition from linear to circular economy in the construction materials sector. Hempstatic is focused on the development of hemp-based insulation modules that can be reused or recycled after their useful life. The first product line is dedicated to ecological soundproofing and acoustic systems for interior spaces. Over the last two years, Hempstatic received support from the Austria Wirtschaftsservice and INiTS, the high-tech incubator of the City of Vienna and was founded as a company at the beginning of this year. The company is fully dedicated and committed to unfold the future potential of hemp-based regenerative building materials and to evolve as a driving actor of the regional biobased value chain and enabler of new aspiring industrial symbioses.
